It was my youngest brother’s birthday weeks ago and I decided to bake an Oreo cheesecake for him. I know that there are lots of Oreo cheesecake recipes which do not require baking. However, I wanted to try a baked cheesecake and thus went searching for a recipe for that.
Recipe with Pictures
Makes a 9″ cheesecake
Ingredient list:
- 24 Oreo cookies (2 packets will be sufficient)
- 40g of melted butter
- 500g of cream cheese (I reduced the amount of cream cheese from 750g to 500g as I did not want a thick cheesecake. However, I realised that the original amount of cheesecake might not have been too much.
- 50g sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 2 eggs
My Oven Settings:
170°C; top and bottom heat; about 5 minutes, then 45 minutes
(Settings would differ from oven to oven. Please experiment with yours!)
Steps:
1. Remove the Oreo cream from 16 biscuits. Put the biscuits in a plastic bag and crush till fine. Pour into baking tin.
2. Add melted butter to the baking tin and mix well with the biscuits. Press firmly onto the base of the baking tin.
3. Bake the base of the cheesecake in the oven for about 5 minutes. Set aside.
4. Beat cream cheese, sugar and vanilla together till well blended.
5. Beat eggs in, one at a time, and mix well.
6. Roughly chop remaining eight Oreo biscuits into smaller pieces or crush till fine (depending on your preference) and stir into the cream cheese mixture.
7. Pour the cream cheese mixture into the baking tin, on top of the base.
8. Bake for 45 minutes or until the centre of the cake is set. Set to cool.
9. Chill in the fridge for about 4 hours.
10. Remove from baking tin and decorate the cake as you like it (to hide the flaws!)

Comments:
I reduced the amount of cream cheese from 750g to 500g and from three eggs to two eggs as I did not want a thick cheesecake. However, seeing my relatively thin cheesecake after it was baked, I realised that the original amount of cheesecake might not have been too much. Would stick to the original recipe amount the next time. Otherwise, this is a simple, yet delicious bake! Everyone can try it and succeed for the first time!
