My friends and I were chatting someday and I casually mentioned that I love to eat pizza but pizza is sold so expensively nowadays! One of my friends who also loved eating (and is a better cooker than I am) then shared the following recipe for a pizza dough. Now, I can bake my own pizza and add whatever toppings I want! Yay!
Recipe with Pictures
Makes a pizza of size about 30cm x 23cm (depending on how much your dough has expanded and the thickness of your dough)
Ingredient list:
For the pizza dough:
- ¾ cup of plain flour
- 1 tsp of salt
- 1 tsp of sugar
- 1 tsp of instant yeast
- ¾ cup of warm water (ensure that the water is not too hot that the yeast gets “killed” or that the water is not cold that the yeast is not “activated”)
For the toppings:
- Any pasta sauce (enough to fill the base of the dough)
- 200g of chicken breast
- ½ can of mushrooms
- 100g of ham (i used honey baked ham)
- Mozzarella cheese (as much as possible! I love cheese!)
My Oven Settings:
200°C; top and bottom heat ; about 20 minutes
(Settings would differ from oven to oven. Please experiment with yours!)
Steps:
1. Mix all the ingredients for the dough together in a bowl. (If it is too wet, add more flour. If it is too dry, add more water).
2. After mixing, set the dough aside by wrapping it in cling wrap or covering its bowl with a wet cloth for about 2 to 3 hours.
3. After it has expanded in size, knead it and spread out the dough according to the size of your pan.
4. Spread the sauce on the dough and apply your toppings. (I first spread the tomato sauce, then put chicken breast, mushrooms then ham and finally topped it with loads of cheese!)
5. Bake the pizza in a preheated oven at the settings mentioned above or until the pizza dough rises and turns golden brown and the cheese has browned and all melted.

Comments:
Though this whole process is very long, the end product is well all the effort! I love that you can customise and mix and match whatever toppings you have cravings for or have on hands at the moment. It is that flexible. Enjoy your pizza!
